Vocational training events for skill enhancement and lifelong learning

             Chiang Mai University’s vision is to take social responsibility for sustainable development through innovation. One of these responsibilities is to organize training activities for interested students, members of the public, and entrepreneurs, providing them with knowledge from experts to enhance their expertise and quality of life. These activities are available in both Online and Onsite formats. These initiatives promote action towards Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDGs 4): Quality Education.

 

 

  • Bonsai Workshop : Bonsai Workshop organized by the Faculty of Agriculture’s Academic Service Center collaborate with Chiang Mai Bonsai Club provides, this hands-on workshop provides community members with professional bonsai cultivation skills suitable for either vocational pursuit or recreational enjoyment. Participants gain comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in theoretical foundation, practical skills, and take-home benefits. This program contributes to vocational skill development for potential income generation, small business entrepreneurship opportunities, value-added horticultural knowledge, and community beautification through plant cultivation. 

 

 

  • Food Handler Training Program : Food Handler Training Program organized by Food Innovation and Packaging Center (FIN CMU), Chiang Mai University. The Food Innovation and Packaging Center (FIN CMU) has received official approval from the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, to serve as an authorized training provider for food handlers and food business operators, in accordance with Department of Health Announcement. The training is mandated under the Ministerial Regulation on Sanitation of Food Service Establishments, 2018, which requires all food handlers and food business operators to complete certified training. Participants develop essential knowledge and skills in personal hygiene standards for food handlers, safe food handling practices, cross-contamination prevention, Basic food safety principles, and health requirements for food handlers. Training conducted by instructors registered with the Department of Health, certificates recognized by government authorities, and licenses valid for food business operation. As a university-based program, FIN CMU provides quality training at reasonable costs, making certification accessible to – small street food vendors, family-owned restaurants, large food service operations, and new food entrepreneurs. The program serves the Greater Chiang Mai area and surrounding provinces, addressing critical food safety training needs in Northern Thailand.

 

 

  • Upskill Science Teachers 2024 for 21st Century Students : The program organized by the Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University, in collaboration with multiple academic departments and the Lifelong Learning Center, this comprehensive teacher professional development program celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Faculty of Science. The program aims to upskill science teachers across multiple disciplines to enhance their teaching capabilities for 21st-century students. The program addresses the critical need for science teacher professional development in the modern era, recognizing that 21st-century students require innovative teaching approaches that integrate current technology with solid academic foundations. This program represents the Faculty of Science’s commitment to educational excellence and community engagement, establishing a tradition of teacher support that extends the university’s impact beyond its own students.

 

  • Pharmaceutical Care in Cardiovascular Diseases (Year 2024) Batch 2 : This specialized pharmaceutical care training program represents Chiang Mai University’s commitment to advancing healthcare quality in the community through professional development. The program is delivered collaboratively by the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Medicine, demonstrating effective inter-departmental partnerships. Program objectives are to prepare pharmacists with specialized knowledge and skills in cardiovascular pharmaceutical care, to enhance the quality of patient care for cardiovascular diseases, to foster interdisciplinary collaboration among healthcare professionals, and to support national public health policy objectives. The program directly supports the Ministry of Public Health’s strategies by developing specialized pharmaceutical care competencies, improving patient access to expert medication management, reducing cardiovascular disease burden through better pharmaceutical care, and strengthening the healthcare workforce in regional areas. Learning hours of program is 456 hours.

  • MEDEE : The MEDEE program represents Chiang Mai University’s innovative approach to lifelong learning, specifically designed to empower elderly citizens in the digital age. The program is part of the larger “Retirement Power Builds the Nation” initiative. MEDEE’s mission is create a sustainable learning ecosystem that develops digital and vocational skills for the elderly while fostering intergenerational collaboration between senior citizens and younger generations. Community impact and outcomes are economic empowerment, social inclusion, and skills development.
