Monitoring Admission and Graduation Proportions
Chiang Mai University continuously tracks data and statistics regarding student numbers across various dimensions to inform university management decisions that appropriately serve students in all dimensions.
In the 2024 academic year, Chiang Mai University had a total of 37,570 students. Among regular status students, there were 14,536 male students (38.7%) and 23,034 female students (61.3%).
Data on the number of applicants and student admissions for each academic year is beneficial for the university in management, developing various projects, and improving the university to suit the student population. According to data from the Office of Registration and Evaluation during the 2021-2024 academic years, the proportion of undergraduate applicants was approximately 61-62% female students and approximately 38-39% male students.
Following the admission process, the admission proportion of first-year students during the 2021-2024 academic years was approximately 62% female students and 38% male students, which is consistent with the overall student population at Chiang Mai University, as shown in the graph below.
Chiang Mai University systematically tracks women’s application rate and acceptance rate by recording data in the application system and statistics of admitted students each year, operated by the Office of Registration and Evaluation. Additionally, this data is analyzed to improve policies that promote gender equality to respond to creating equal opportunities in all fields of study.
Furthermore, Chiang Mai University tracks graduation rates of students disaggregated by gender, using graduation data from students each year to analyze graduation opportunities between women and men. Additionally, if gaps in graduation rates between genders are found, we have measures to help close such gaps, such as academic counseling programs for women and support for specific skills to help increase graduation opportunities for all genders equally.
Chiang Mai University has activities and operations that support gender equality and gender diversity to create opportunities for students to enhance their capabilities and express themselves creatively.
