Chiang Mai University Joins Signing Ceremony to Advance Academic Collaboration and Research Utilization in the Legislative Process

On 8 September 2026, Asst. Prof. Dr. Pairat Phibulrungroj, Assistant to the President of Chiang Mai University (CMU), represented the University at the signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on academic cooperation and the utilization of academic and research outputs in the legislative process. The MOU was signed between the Secretariat of the Senate and participating higher education institutions as part of “Senate Forum 2026: Decoding Thailand’s Future through Research and Innovation,” held at the Emerald Pool area on the first floor of the Parliament Building in Bangkok. A total of 22 organizations and higher education institutions participated in the signing ceremony.

Held from 8–9 September 2026, the event was organized by the Senate Committee on Research and Development, in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Senate and research and academic organizations. The forum served as a platform for connecting knowledge, research findings, and innovations generated by universities and research institutions with practical applications in public policymaking and the country’s legislative process. The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Mongkol Surasajja, President of the Senate.

In addition to the MOU signing ceremony, the event featured an exhibition showcasing research and innovation achievements from more than 50 universities and research organizations nationwide. Under the concept “1 University 1 Outstanding Research” (UR1), the exhibition provided a platform for researchers to present high-potential research outputs, create opportunities for connections between researchers and the private sector, and facilitate the further development of research toward tangible applications.

CMU’s participation in the initiative reflects its commitment to strengthening collaboration between academia and public-sector institutions and to promoting the use of research-based knowledge as a foundation for policymaking and legislative development. The initiative also supports the University’s broader mission to translate research and innovation into meaningful benefits for society and the sustainable development of the country.

チェンマイ大学、学術協力および研究成果の立法プロセスへの活用に向けた協力協定締結式に参加

2026年9月8日、チェンマイ大学（Chiang Mai University: CMU）のAsst. Prof. Dr. Pairat Phibulrungroj Assistant to the Presidentは、チェンマイ大学を代表して、タイ上院事務局（Secretariat of the Senate）と高等教育機関との間で締結された、学術成果および研究成果を立法プロセスに活用するための学術協力に関する覚書（MOU）締結式に参加しました。本式典は、バンコクの国会議事堂1階「Emerald Pool」エリアで開催された学術セミナー・展示会 「Senate Forum 2026: Decoding Thailand’s Future through Research and Innovation」 の一環として行われ、計22の機関・高等教育機関が協定に参加しました。

同イベントは2026年9月8～9日に、タイ上院研究・開発委員会が上院事務局および研究・学術関連機関と連携して開催したものです。本フォーラムは、大学や研究機関が生み出した知識、研究成果、イノベーションを、公共政策の策定や国の立法プロセスにおける実際の活用へとつなげるための交流・連携の場として開催されました。開会式では、Mr. Mongkol Surasajja上院議長が開会の挨拶を行いました。

MOU締結式に加えて、会場では全国の大学および研究機関による研究・イノベーション成果の展示会も開催され、50を超えるブースが設けられました。**「1 University 1 Outstanding Research（UR1）」**をコンセプトとして、研究者が将来性の高い研究成果を紹介するとともに、研究者と民間企業との連携機会を創出し、研究成果を具体的な社会実装へと発展させるための場が提供されました。

今回の取り組みへの参加は、チェンマイ大学が学術界と公共部門との連携を強化し、研究に基づく知識を政策立案および立法の発展に活用することを推進する姿勢を示すものです。また、研究・イノベーションの成果を社会に還元し、国の持続可能な発展に貢献するというチェンマイ大学の取り組みをさらに推進する機会となりました。
